THE END OF THE SEASON

Hello and welcome to my new blog- an insight into the life of a skeleton athlete.

The season is over. Now what do we do? Well, to put it simply, we have a well earned rest!!! April is our ‘down month’, in which we have two weeks of complete rest and two weeks of light training.

April for us skeleton athletes is a time to spend at home with family and friends. Being based in Bath all summer (from May-September) and away all winter (from October-March) is pretty tough on everyone. My family are based in Kent so I will be heading back there to spend a week with them soon!

It feels very strange to go from 24/7 Skeleton all winter, to all of a sudden nothing. I miss the ice almost instantly! However it does give me a chance for me to write up all my notes from the season so I have them neat and tidy ready for October. This is a vital part of Skeleton as our steers and lines down the track are so individual-knowing what we did the last time we visited each track helps us pick up where we left off much easier.

I will keep you all updated on my adventures throughout April before the tough summer training season starts! Lets hope the sun makes an appearance at some point!!
